Ladbrokes Review Overview
Ladbrokes needs little introduction to racing and sports bettors in the UK and Ireland. It’s a brand punters know is credible and trustworthy.
This Ladbrokes review specifically focuses on the online betting platform. Having used this site as part of my rotation for several years, I’m well-placed to give you an honest assessment of its main features.
These include looking at the bonuses and promotions, the depth of sports, events, and betting markets, the user experience, banking, and player support.
You’ll discover that you can get in on the action at Ladbrokes for as little as £5. Moreover, unlike some rival bookmakers that bump up the minimum deposit amounts for players to claim welcome offers and other bonuses, Ladbrokes plays it straight down the line – £5 min. deposit and £5 in bets to get the new player offer.
Ladbrokes Look & Feel
We scored Ladbrokes 7/10
Notwithstanding a few minor tweaks and upgrades, the design and layout of Ladbrokes.com are virtually the same as they were 10+ years ago. In my opinion, it’s long overdue for a full, top-to-bottom update.
For instance, the desktop UI still retains a strip down the right side of the sports section that promotes casino games. This old-school cross-selling tactic is largely obsolete on more modern platforms.
That said, after spending a little time on this betting site, navigation becomes intuitive. The sports menu runs down the left side of the page, while there are numerous quick links in a sub-menu at the top.
Switching to the Ladbrokes app, which is available for Android and iOS devices, the user experience improves. Although still a little dated in appearance, it performs well regarding page load speeds and responsiveness, which is integral for live betting.
Ladbrokes Betting Selection
We scored Ladbrokes 10/10
Being a British-based bookmaker, it’s no surprise that Ladbrokes gives extra attention to sports that appeal to the UK public.
Horse race betting remains one of this bookie’s strengths. It covers all the action from the UK and Ireland, as well as hundreds of meetings from other countries, including Australia, New Zealand, France, and the USA.
Yet, the depth of markets is most attractive about its racebook. Many cards offer Win/EW, Top Finish, Forecasts, To Finish, and Place Insurance, among other bets. Moreover, there are form guides and tips from the Racing Post and other top publications that give punters all the information required to make educated betting decisions.
Football has replaced racing as Britain’s most ‘bet on’ sport, and Ladbrokes has followed this trend. You can bet on league and cup competitions from more than 40 countries, and there are exclusive sections for the Premier League, Champions League, and the Euros.
A glance at some upcoming games, I found 190+ betting options for each match, with all the popular markets like 1×2, BTTS, correct score, first goalscorer, total goals (U/O), and double chance among the options.
Although football and racing are the big two for UK punters, Ladbrokes also has in-depth coverage of 25+ other sports, including cricket, basketball, darts, and rugby. Additionally, several betting tools and features, like a bet builder, quick coupons, cash out, and live streaming, enhance the online platform.
Ladbrokes Bonuses & Promotions
We scored Ladbrokes 8/10
Ladbrokes has been in the business long enough to understand the importance of customer retention. As such, it backs up its impressive betting site with several bonuses and promotions. Once again, most of these are geared towards UK betting preferences, which is great news for British punters.
The welcome offer of ‘Bet £5, Get £20 in Free Bets’ sets the tone. This may not appear to be the most lavish bonus, but it suits part-time punters like myself. Following that, Ladbrokes 1-2-Free is a popular free-to-enter football prediction where you can pick up £100 if you guess the correct scores of the chosen matches.
Price Boosts is another favourite promotion, as these enhance the odds (and potential payouts) on your bets. Ladbrokes also allows customers to boost and insure their ACCAs. The Fanzone runs contests with cash prizes, odds boosts, and free bets, while there are Best Odds Guaranteed, Extra Places Paid, and the £250k Guaranteed Placepot for racing fans.
Unfortunately, there isn’t too much related to international sports. For instance, the French Open tennis tournament was in progress at the time of writing this review, and Ladbrokes didn’t have any special promotions on that event.
Additionally, you need to check out the terms and conditions for each promotion. I noticed some restrictions, particularly for customers who use certain payment methods like Skrill and Neteller.
Ladbrokes Banking
We scored Ladbrokes 8/10
The UK Gambling Commission banned the use of credit cards for gambling-related activities in the UK in 2020. Despite this, Ladbrokes still offers a well-rounded selection of debit cards, e-wallets, and prepaid cards with which players can fund their accounts.
You can use Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro debit cards. The minimum deposit amount is £5.00, which is more than fair. GPay (Formerly Google Pay), Paysafecard, and Apple Pay, which is specifically for iOS users, are three other options with £5.00 minimum deposits.
PayPal can be used, but the minimum deposit using this method is £10.00. Among other banking methods are Neteller and Skrill, but you cannot fund your e-wallet via a credit card because this is regarded as a breach of the 2020 law that bans them.
What jumps out with the Ladbrokes banking methods is that certain payment types are excluded from several promotions. For instance, you cannot enter the free prediction game if you used Paysafe, PayPal, Skrill, or Neteller.
Furthermore, prepaid cards and e-wallets, with the exception of Apple Pay, are not supported for withdrawals. The main options, for UK customers, are debit cards, Visa Fast Funds, and bank transfers. On a positive note, the minimum withdrawal amount is £5.00 for all methods and Ladbrokes doesn’t impose fees on payments.
In terms of withdrawal times, you should have your winnings immediately via Instant Bank Payment or within four hours when you use Visa Fast Funds. Apple Pay and debit card withdrawals take 1 – 3 banking days, and for regular bank transfers, the expected payout time is 2 – 4 banking days.
Ladbrokes Support
We scored Ladbrokes 9/10
Ladbrokes has an extensive self-help section that provides questions and answers on all things related to your account. This is accessed by clicking on the Help & Contact tab in the footer menu.
Live chat is available to registered customers. However, you are required to go through the Help Centre FAQs first. If you cannot find an answer to your query, there is a ‘Need More Help?’ button at the bottom of most Help Centre questions.
In addition to live chat, Ladbrokes also provides telephone and email contact forms as other support methods. It’s worth noting that live chat is operational 24/7, so assistance is always available should you need it.
Accessing the direct support options through the Help Centre is somewhat long-winded. I understand the logic as it’s meant to reduce players contacting chat for extremely simple questions. However, on the other hand, as a customer, I want it front and centre.
LowPlays Verdict
Ladbrokes overall score is 8.4/10
Even people with no interest in gambling and betting know the Ladbrokes name. It is an industry powerhouse, particularly in the UK and Ireland. Despite a few minor flaws with its online platform, mainly to do with design, Ladbrokes is, without question, a trusted and reliable brand.
Moreover, LowPlays’ verdict is wholly positive when it comes to Ladbrokes betting selection. The expansive book covers everything. Certainly, horse race bettors will revel in the tips, guides, and choice of markets. However, fans of other sports are not short-changed either.
Another vital area in which Ladbrokes performs well is with its player-friendly promotions. There are many ways to squeeze extra value from the platform so your cash goes further.
